Boo! Happy Halloween from Jen Beck! 🎃
Halloween is here, and I hope you’re planning something fun! Whether you're dressing up, handing out candy, or walking the neighborhood with the kids, there’s one thing that’s almost impossible to avoid—Halloween candy!
Let’s be real for a minute: I’m not the Halloween Grinch. I love seeing the excitement on kids’ faces as they collect their favorite treats. And yes, a fun-sized Kit Kat or a few candy corn can be hard to resist!
The trick, though, is making sure those occasional treats don’t turn into an all-out candy-fest. Did you know that just a few “sneak bites” here and there could add up to between 640 and 1,280 extra calories? That’s a lot of extra sugar that our bodies might not thank us for!
But don’t worry—I’m not here to ruin the Halloween spirit! A little indulgence is what makes this holiday so much fun. With a bit of moderation and some extra movement, we can enjoy the treats and skip the post-Halloween sugar crash.
Want to balance out those candy calories? Here’s a playful list of popular Halloween treats and how much activity it takes to burn them off:
🍬 Fun-sized Kit Kat (70 calories): 10 minutes on the elliptical
🍬 Fun-sized Skittles (60 calories): 100 push-ups
🍬 Fun-sized Peanut M&M’s (90 calories): 18 minutes of Pilates
🍬 Fun-sized Snickers (80 calories): 50 burpees
🍬 Candy Corn, 20 pieces (140 calories): 35 minutes of brisk walking
If you’re not into burpees or push-ups, don’t worry! Here are some everyday activities that can help burn off those candy calories:
✅ Vacuuming for 30 minutes: burns 100 calories
✅ Washing, waxing, and drying your car: burns 110 calories
✅ Scrubbing the kitchen floor: burns 200 calories
✅ General cleaning for 90 minutes: burns 300 calories
✅ Yard work: burns about 250 calories
So, let’s have fun, enjoy a treat or two, and keep a little movement in our day. Balance is everything—and a few extra steps will help keep Halloween guilt-free!
Have a safe and spooktacular Halloween! 👻
